Newly Created Position for New York Life Investments Subsidiary Will Enable Boutique to Achieve Next Phase of Growth

NEW YORK, April 6, 2009, Madison Square Investors LLC (MSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of New York Life Investments, today announced the appointment of Michael Maquet to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer.   Reporting to MSI’s chief executive officer Tony Elavia, Maquet will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s institutional sales, client services, operations and finance functions. 

“Having launched Madison Square Investors as an independent asset manager on January 1^st, the firm is setting the foundation for its next phase of development,” said Elavia.  “Under Mike’s leadership, our firm will build the proper scalable infrastructure required to handle the company’s growth going forward. We are thrilled to have him join the team.”

Maquet brings to MSI a deep understanding of the institutional asset management business with expertise in quantitative investing, distribution, marketing and client service.  His product experience spans fixed-income, quantitative equities and multi-strategy hedge funds. Maquet’s functional experience includes product development, business development, staff management and strategy design.

Maquet joins MSI from Drake Management of New York where he served as managing director and head of global rates, FX and volatility. 

Previous to Drake, Maquet spent seven years with Prudential Investment Management, most recently as a senior managing director in product development at Quantitative Management Associates, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Prudential Investment Management.   Earlier, Maquet was a principal at Prudential Investment Management-Fixed Income and Hedge Strategy Units.

Prior to that, Maquet was with Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan, respectively, for 13 years. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Virginia.
