WESTWOOD, Mass., February 22, 2006 – NYLIM Retirement Plan Services, a division of New York Life Investment Management LLC (NYLIM), announced it has been appointed by The Ironworkers District Council of New England to administer its $215 million defined contribution plan. 

The participant-directed plan provides retirement benefits for approximately 4,000 ironworkers in the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

“We chose NYLIM because everything they do is first class,” said Thomas Broderick, fund administrator for The Ironworkers.  “We liked their whole recordkeeping system and communications with our members,” he said.  Mr. Broderick also mentioned that NYLIM and New York Life work with unions when constructing buildings, a very important consideration for a union plan.  “We don’t want to fund our competition,” he said. 

C. E. Humphrey Associates, Inc., Pittsfield, N.H., served as the financial advisor for The Ironworkers and will continue working to assist the Trustees with investment oversight, managing the NYLIM relationship and assisting members with individual financial planning.
