Parsippany, NJ, January 10, 2001 - MainStay Management LLC ("MainStay"), an affiliate of New York Life Investment Management LLC announced today that it will sponsor this year's Independence Bowl, to be held in Shreveport, Louisiana at the end of December, 2001. MainStay's sponsorship marks the beginning of what may become a new college football tradition. This new initiative is part of the company's extensive program to raise public awareness of its brand name.
The firm has committed to sponsoring the Independence Bowl football game for the years 2001 through 2003, and may extend that even further. During its twenty-five year history, the Independence Bowl has hosted some of the great names in college football, including Oklahoma, Notre Dame, LSU, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Kansas State, Washington, Air Force and Army. On New Years Eve, 2000, Mississippi State beat Texas A&M, 43-41.
