Parsippany, N.J. – October 5, 2005 – MainStay Investments announced today that it has appointed Patrick Comer, Jay Jackson, Ryan Carroll, and Annmarie Woods to the position of Regional Vice Presidents of Sales. MainStay Investments, a division of New York Life Investment Management LLC (NYLIM), offers retail investors a range of products including MainStay Funds, Separately Managed Accounts and the CollegeSense 529 College Savings Plan.

These appointments come on the heels of a successful 16-month series of new retail hires. Nineteen wholesalers have joined MainStay Investments since April 2004.

“Now more than ever financial advisors are in need of wholesalers to help them build their business,” said Chris Blunt, President of MainStay Investments. “They are looking for clever ways to strengthen their practice. Having experienced wholesalers is critical to making that happen.”

The four new hires will market and sell MainStay products to intermediaries including national, full service brokerage firms, regional firms and independent broker-dealers.

Patrick Comer will work with national and regional brokerages in Ohio and Kentucky. Patrick was previously a Vice President, Regional Sales Manager at Allstate Insurance Company. Prior to Allstate, Patrick held positions at Putnam Investments and The Rockport Company.

Jay Jackson will be responsible for working with national and regional brokerages in Northern Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Prior to MainStay Investments, he was a Regional Vice President at Dreyfus Investments. Prior to Dreyfus, Jay was a Regional Vice President at Putnam Investments, responsible for mutual fund, managed accounts, 401(k), wrap, and annuity sales.

Ryan Carroll will work with national brokerage firms in Northern California and Nevada. Ryan was previously Regional Sales Director at Gartmore Global Investments. In addition, Ryan worked with Charles Schwab & Co. as an operations specialist

Annmarie Woods will call on financial advisors in New Jersey. Prior to joining MainStay Investments, Annmarie was Vice President, Mutual Funds Specialist at Merrill Lynch. She has also held positions at Pioneer Investments, Prudential Investments and Keystone Distributors.
