WESTWOOD, Mass., October 14, 2008 – New York Life Retirement Plan Services, a leading retirement plan provider and division of New York Life Investment Management LLC, announced the appointment of Lisa A. Scalia as second vice president and ERISA consultant.     

      ERISA expertise plays an integral role in New York Life’s service model, allowing sponsors to benefit from proactive ERISA consulting.  With the addition of Scalia, a 25-year veteran of the financial services industry, New York Life Retirement Plan Services grows its defined contribution and defined benefit consulting practice to a team of 16 professionals and their staffs.   Scalia reports to Jeff Bograd, director and managing ERISA consultant, and is based in Parsippany, New Jersey.

      Prior to joining New York Life Retirement Plan Services, Scalia was a senior manager in the pension division of American Economic Planning Group and a pension consultant with Merrill Lynch in Hopewell, N.J.  Earlier in her career, she served as a compliance manager for eight years with Milliman USA and as a vice president of defined contribution and participant services for Bankers Trust Company in New York.  She also was a senior consultant with McKay Hochman Co., Inc., in Butler, N.J.

      Scalia, a resident of Summit, N.J., holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and her bachelor of science in mathematics, summa cum laude, from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, N.Y. She is designated by the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) as a Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA).  She is also a contributing editor to the ASPPA Journal and assists the ASPPA Education and Exam Committee with peer review of the ASPPA exams.
